Support Innovation and Access to Dependable Contraception!

Today, 222 million women in the developing world would like to delay or stop childbearing but are not using a modern method of contraception. Their choices may be limited by lack of dependable access to methods that meet their needs and lifestyle, resistance from family or community, or even lack of awareness of their options.

Population Council researchers are developing a contraceptive vaginal ring that will be effective for one year. The ring will not require refrigeration during storage and distribution, making it an attractive option for women and providers in remote areas. Once approved, the ring will provide women with a safe and effective contraceptive method that is fully under their control.

Support expanded access to contraceptives that give women the power to plan their families and live healthier and more productive lives.
