The NRA claims that placing armed officers at every school in the nation is the most effective way to protect our kids. No matter that there were armed guards present at Columbine, Virginia Tech, and Fort Hood, none of whom managed to prevent the mass murders that occurred there.
In countries like Australia and the United Kingdom, comprehensive gun laws dramatically decreased gun violence. Tell the NRA that if they truly cared about American safety, they would stop pushing useless, ineffective programs like the "National School Shield Safety System" as alternatives to gun control.
Your proposed plan to install armed policemen at every school in the nation isn't just morally reprehensible in the wake of the Sandy Hook shootings; it's also completely impractical.
It may have escaped your notice, but there were armed guards or police officers present at Columbine High School, Virginia Tech University, and Fort Hood Military Post. None of them were able to prevent the mass slaughters that occurred there.
In countries like the UK and Australia, mass shootings prompted huge reforms in gun control -- and subsequent declines in gun-related deaths. You claim that you want to keep Americans safe, yet you continuously block gun laws from being passed.
Something doesn't compute here, and it's high time for you to realize that the more you propose adding more deadly weapons into our society, the more danger you're putting Americans in.
