Walmart may use the most solar power of any corporation, but they're funding groups that actively fight clean energy and try to make solar power inaccessible to regular people? It's hypocritical and irresponsible.
Over the past few years, Walmart's founders, the Walton family, have donated over $4,500,000 to more than twenty organizations that are leading campaigns against climate change, green energy, and accessibility of solar panels.
Send a letter to Rob Walton, Chairman of Walmart's Board, asking him to withdraw his family's support and funding for anti-green groups immediately and stop this injustice!
Dear Rob Walton, Chairman of the Board, Walmart,
I'm writing to request swift action from you and the Walton Foundation to withdraw your support and funding from groups that actively fight clean energy sources.
While your company touts its status as the largest corporate user of solar power, your Foundation continues to donate millions of dollars to groups like the Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute and the Franklin Center for Government and Public Integrity that are actively fighting green energy and blocking access to solar power.
Walmart's own website says "environmental sustainability has become an essential ingredient to doing business responsibly and successfully," yet the Walton Foundation donated $500,000 over the past few years to Americans for Prosperity, and organizations that were responsible for a pledge asking leaders not to act on climate disruption. It's, by Walmart's own definition, irresponsible.
While Walmart's efforts in sustainability are admirable, it's hard to reconcile Walmart's commitment to "ensure a better world for generations to come" with the Walton Foundation's record of donating to dozens of groups that actively fight against clean energy and access to solar power.
That's why I'm calling on you to do the right thing and ensure the organizations your family supports align with the mission you set for your company. Stop funding and withdraw your support now from groups that oppose clean energy!
