Urge the Government to Give-Up Trying to Stop Green Groups Using Legal Means to Block Mining Developments

There are concerns in the community that the Australian Government is trying to silence environmental groups, according to a report in The Guardian.

The government was fighting to convince members of the Senate to pass proposed changes to the federal government’s main conservation laws, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

The amendments would mean green groups could not challenge mining developments through the court system.

However, many Australians who were polled about the new laws said the government is simply trying to silence conservationists so they can promote the interests of the mining lobby.

Australia is lucky enough to be a democracy - the government should not be trying to silence its citizens. Will you join me in urging the Federal Government to give-up trying to stop environmentalists from using legal means to stop mining developments.
