Antonio Coria needs to be tried for his sexual assault on 2 month old goat

Wake County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Antonio Coria, 48, May 7 on charges of crime against nature, cruelty to animals, and breaking and entering. The reason for a dismissal was likely the result of the arresting officer, a Johnston County sheriff’s deputy, not showing up in court on two scheduled dates. She said it was unfortunate he wasn’t prosecuted at that time, but the charge could be brought up at a later date. We petition the Sheriff to follow-up on the charges against this animal abuser as soon as possible and set a court date for him to be tried. If convicted, we ask that this abuser serve the longest possible jail time, that he undergo mandatory psychological testing and counseling and that he never be permitted to be in possession of an animal.

According to the paper, Currin, who raises cattle and goats on a farm beside Little River Park
off N.C. 97, claims someone has been assaulting her goats since last
July. Previously, she found one goat dead at a feeding trough,
strangled by a belt. On other occasions, semen-stained shirts were left
at the scene. And last September, Currin’s boyfriend, Vernon Pearce,
tried to apprehend a naked man they said assaulted another goat. They
blame Coria for each assault.

“Saturday night was his lucky night. We caught him,” Currin said.

Currin said she woke up to a 2-month-old goat squalling — uncommon
unless the goat was separated from its mother. With her night-vision
goggles, she saw the herd of goats out in the pasture — also uncommon
that time of night. “So I thought I’d better check the barn. There is
something going on out there. ... We figured that he was out there
again.”

Up watching the NASCAR race, Vernon Pearce grabbed his shotgun and
tiptoed through the yard as Currin followed. Pearce then looked into
the stable to find Coria, without his shirt, assaulting the young
animal. After Pearce locked the paddock door, Currin rushed inside to
phone the sheriff’s department, and other nearby relatives to secure
the premises. “There was no way for him to get away,” she said.

Active cruelty implies malicious intent, where a person has
deliberately and intentionally caused harm to an animal. Acts of active
cruelty are often some of the most disturbing and should be considered
signs of serious psychological problems. This type of behavior is often
associated with sociopathic behavior and should be taken very seriously.

Animal abuse in violent homes can take many forms and can occur for
many reasons. Many times a parent or domestic partner who is abusive
may kill, or threaten to kill, the household pets to intimidate family
members into sexual abuse, to remain silent about previous or current
abuse, or simply to psychologically torture them, flexing their
“power”.

Bestiality (or zoophilia) is a paraphilia defined as an affinity,
attraction or sexual attraction by a human to non-human animals.
Because this topic deals openly about about the nature of bestiality,
it is intended for mature audiences only.

While moral and clinical descriptions of bestiality differ, we take the position that bestiality is sexual assault of
an animal and is always a crime.  The term bestiality actually tells us much more about cultural
attitudes toward animals than it does about sex with animals. Concern
about bestiality generally focuses on human beings; thus experts tell
us it is usually harmless while debating its frequency. If we call it
forced sex with animals, we reclaim the animal's perspective as a
central concern. It is more prevalent than we can measure and is not
harmless; it is always animal abuse.

Recent views of bestiality as fairly benign have replaced these earlier
reactions, but no matter what the prevailing view of bestiality, it
does not consider the animals' perspectives at all. It is always animal
abuse. Relationships of unequal power cannot be consensual. In
human-animal relationships, the human being has control of many—if not
all—of the aspects of an animals' well being. Sexual relationships
should occur between peers where consent is possible.

Consent is when one can say no, and that no is accepted. Clearly
animals cannot do that. Bestiality is the model case of circumventing
consent on the one hand, while confusing affection for consent on the
other. Despite the omnipresence of animals in pornographic pictures and
videos, the animal protection community has yet to identify bestiality
as an animal abuse issue.

petition the Sheriff to follow-up on the charges against this animal abuser as
soon as possible and set a court date for him to be tried.  If
convicted, we ask that this abuser serve the longest possible jail
time, that he undergo mandatory psychological testing and counseling
and that he never be permitted to be in possession of an animal.
