Don't Let Congress Dismantle the Endangered Species Act

For 45 years, the Endangered Species Act has provided vital protections for ocean animals. From manatees to humpback whales and sea lions, we owe their continued presence to the ESA.

We can't risk backtracking on these important protections and permanently losing many of these species. Tell Congress we need the Endangered Species Act to protect ocean wildlife.

Tell Congress just how important the Endangered Species Act is for our ocean. Help continue these vital protections.
Dear [Member of Congress],

The Endangered Species Act has truly been a hero for conservation in our ocean. Both in and out of the water, the Endangered Species Act has helped prevent the extinction of many of America’s wildlife species.

The ESA helped bring back southern sea otters in California from the brink of extinction, and continues to protect them today. It's recovered humpback whales and is currently protecting sea turtles, beluga whales, 184 species of fish, 33 species of coral and many, many more.

We need the Endangered Species Act and can't risk backtracking on these important protections. Without this vital law, many species like Hawaiian monk seals, whale sharks and green sea turtles are likely to go extinct.

Out of the 2,270 species listed as endangered or threatened under the ESA, about 650 are found only in areas outside of the U.S. and our national waters. We can't imagine an ocean without sea otters, corals or manatees. For 45 years this law has been a necessary champion and hero for saving and protecting some of our favorite ocean animals.

Please ensure that the Endangered Species Act continues to provide vital protections for the oceans—as the success of our ocean life depends on it. I ask you to strongly oppose any and all attempts to repeal, dismantle, or weaken the Endangered Species Act and the conservation protections that it provides.

Thank you for protecting and upholding this vital law, for our ocean, its animals and for our health.

Sincerely,
