Zoo Director Vuk Bojovic stated that, Belgrade Zoo needs papers, but will not have to pay on custom office because the Elephant is for education. Djanom is to be a partner for Twiggy the elephant currently residing in Belgrade Zoo.Twiggy was stolen from her mother in India and brought to England as a baby.Because of bad behaviour she was transferred to a zoo in Holland where she spent 15 years standing on her feet/would not lie down to sleepThere she killed one zoo worker and when Zoo wanted to kill her -Belgrade zoo asked to have her for mating…... 

Holland never asked for Twiggy to be given back – so Twiggy stayed in Belgrade Zoo for the past 7 years

Belgrade Zoo had the elephant named 'Boy' and when  'Twiggy' came she did not like him… they fought a lot... and never mated. She is still a 'virgin' and a widow at the same time because 'Boy' died of foot cancer.

We the undersigned implore Mr Singh and Mr Divac not to go ahead with this transfer. It is questionable an Elephant be given as a gift in the first place, but even on this strange occasion -Djanom's needs must be considered first, therefore he should NOT end up in Belgrade Zoo, which is renowned for its low standards of animal care

If Djanom cannot stay in Punjab,he should be transferred to a proper sanctuary
