Reject the Anti-Gay GOP Rhetoric

The Texas GOP has put forth a 2010 party platform that says gay people shouldn't have custody of children and that issuing a marriage license or performing a marriage ceremony for a same-sex couple should be punishable by jail time. It's one thing for extremist groups to spout this type of bigotry, but that's way too far for one of the nation's two main political parties!

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is trying to avoid the issue, but a huge public outcry can force them to take sides. Is this really what they want voters to think the GOP stands for as the 2010 elections approach?

Send a letter to RNC Chairman Michael Steele asking him to repudiate this outrageous platform.
Dear Chairman Steele,

I urge you to publicly reject the anti-LGBT language in the Texas Republican Party Platform. This kind of hateful rhetoric has no place in our political discourse. Unless the RNC endorses the Texas GOP's positions, it is up to you to repudiate them.
