Opposition to the proposed Comprehensive Black Bear Management Policy CBBMP) and its extension

  • by: Beverly Anderson
  • recipient: New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife at www.nj.gov/dep/rules/comments. Refer to DEP Dkt 04/15/04, game code 7:25-56 and 5.24 black bear

Nonlethal components to control black bears have never been implemented in any serious manner and instead the CBBMP seeks to expand the hunts to double the time, expand hunting zones, use bow and arrows, taking a second bear, etc. three governors stopped the bear hunt before Gov Christie, but he supports the hunters. Decision to kill the additional bears and cubs will be made by committee of 100% hunters.  Please submit comments to www.nj.gov/dep/rules/comments/

This petition was signed by people who feel strongly against the proposed changes in the Bear Management Policy. We strongly support the development of Bear Smart Communities.

please do not allow these changes to go through.  We support going back to a No Hunt state.

Update #18 years ago
Thank you for signing this petition to stop the horrible proposed changes to the Bear Hunt in New Jersey. The past previous years under Governor Christie has resulted in a trophy hunt with many unnecessary deaths of bears and their cubs.
Now they want to expand hunt in unimanageable ways. Please I courage your friends to sign. We only have until 7/16 to get our signatures in to the DEP. thank you.
