Demand Clean Water in Zimbabwe to Combat the Health Crisis!

Around 50 new cases of typhoid fever are being reported in Zimbabwe per day. The country's substandard water system is believed to be the root of the problem.

Some suburbs go for weeks without water. People cannot bathe, wash, or are forced to drink untreated water enabling the spread of disease such as typhoid and cholera. Zimbabwe's Health Minister Henry Madzorera has deemed this "a matter of urgency" and that the water, sanitation, and sewerage systems must be improved for the sake of public health.

Authorities have said that it is impossible to supply water to all. Even more infuriating, Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe is suspected of stealing tens of millions of dollars in profits from state-owned diamond mines, and STILL denies his people basic necessities such as water.

Health is a human right, and water is the most basic of basic needs. Tell President Mugabe that as a national leader, he must address this health crisis and replace the water and sanitation infrastructure.
His Excellency President Robert Mugabe:

I am calling to address a the impending health crisis that befalls thousands of people in Zimbabwe.

I am deeply concerned that the country's water, sanitation, and sewerage systems are dangerously substandard and unable to regularly distribute clean water to drink and bathe with.

These problems have serious implications--including diahrrea, typhoid, cholera, and even death. With around 50 new cases of typhoid being reported each day, it is imperative that action is taken to ensure the fundamental human right to clean water and basic health for Zimbabwe's citizens.

The most effective way to combat this health crisis is to replace the water, sanitation, and sewerage systems with ones in standard condition. I strongly urge you and your administration to make sure that an improved system is put in place. There is simply no excuse for denying your citizens the most basic of basic needs--water.
