PACE (Pattison's Academy for Comprehensive Education) is a school for kids with multiple disabilities. These kids are considered by the state to be medically critical. PACE is a school that combines therapy and teaching in a way that these kids who were being left behind in the public school system are able to learn.
In June due to financial reasons PACE handed over our charter with the understanding that Charleston County School District (CCSD)was partnering with us to ensure the continuing of this amazing program. Parents and Staff were told that the school would continue at the same location for the 2016-2017 school year while they researched and looked into other options because they did not want to make and rash decisions.
Now three weeks before school starts, CCSD is stating no decision has been made and PACE may not continue for the 2016-2017 school year. On top of this we have not heard any information as to where these 30 kids will be going. This is a very irresponsible action on the CCSD part. We say no child is to be left behind but that is what is happening to these kids and with making this a last minute decision and reneging on what had been previously told to parents and staff, it shows that these kids are not being a priority in our school district.
I'm asking that you sign and share this petition to show Charleston County School District that we have people standing behind these kids and supporting them. I will be bringing this petition with me to the school board meeting this Monday. Thank you for your time and support. Sign and share!

I wanted to thank everyone who signed our petition. We met with CCSD at the school board meeting last night. They voted and with a 7-0 they have reinstated PACE's charter. As per a article in post and courier PACE is funded through fundraisers.
