With the elections this year Canadians need to know where the leaders of the political parties stand on animal welfare to be able to make an informed choice.

Object: To make it mandatory for all Members of Parliament to state their personal and party policies for animal welfare on their official websites

Elections are started, have not received anything back from the conservatives -

Liberals have said they will updated animal welfare yet Justin Trudeau and family wear their fur coats proudly

Green Party have issued new policies

NDP, have remained the same, although much better than Liberals or Conservatives link in english only http://www.animallaw.ca/statutes-regulations-by-laws-a-bills.html

Why sign this petition? WSPA sent a survey to Canada's five main political parties about important animal welfare issues in the country. Their response was as follows;

(no response)   they still have issued no response

In the recent wake of animal abuse cases such as Captain,(Vancouver)https://www.facebook.com/JusticeForCaptainPetition/app_112190812172796 Breezy, (Ottawa) and Titan, (Quebec) Sade, (Vancouver), Visons JMJ where a Quebec fur farmer was charged with 6 counts of animal cruelty and with the horrid videos released by Mercy for Animals of the conditions in factory farms, and the seizing of dogs from puppy mills, we deem it necessary to address these issues by making it mandatory for all Members of Parliament to state their policies on with respect to animal welfare issues on their official websites and on their party websites.

Voters of Canada have the right to know the each political party’s stance on policies of animal welfare issues - be it companion animals, wildlife, fur bearing animals or farm animals, so that we, the voters of Canada can make an informed choice in any and all elections.

On fur bearing animals, whether farmed or trapped.

On whether or not you agree with the banning of the retail sales of companion animals in pet stores.

On changing the status of animals from being property (Manifesto for the Evolution of Animals’ Legal Status in the Civil Code of Quebec)

On whether or not you agree with the banning of animal testing.

On making animal welfare laws stronger and how would you go about it.

With the Montreal SPCA bringing charges of cruelty upon a Quebec fur farm, would you support the SPCA in the future in any other cases with their recommendations and follow through with them.

With Mercy for Animals revealing their findings of brutality on factory farms, what would  your policy be on stronger laws protecting agricultural animals.

On dog and cat fur still being sold on clothing in Canada

Following the FBI's move in tracking animal abuse cases in young people who torture and kill animals (studies have shown if it goes unchecked that they are prone to violence against people later in life) would you be in favour implementing the tracking of all animal abuse cases?
