Make Children's Health a Grown-Up Issue

Right now, millions of children could be using unsafe medicines and medical technologies. You can help protect them.

With no seat at the political table and no voice in the current health care system, children are at risk of being left behind as science and medicine move forward. Nearly three-quarters of medicines children use are not proven safe or effective for pediatric use.

In the next few weeks, Congress will be put to the test on children's health. Both the Senate and House of Representatives are poised to vote on legislation that would ensure that children have better access to medical devices and medicines that are correctly dosed, properly labeled, and proven safe for their use.

Tell Congress to take action and support children. Their decision will affect countless lives. Lend your voice to help those who cannot speak themselves. Take action today!

Every day millions of children use medicines and medical devices that are not proven safe or effective for their use – putting them at serious risk.

Two pieces of legislation recently passed by Congress, The Food and Drug Revitalization Act of 2007 (S.1082) and The Food and Drug Administration Amendments Act of 2007 (H.R. 2900), include three critical pediatric components that could make children's medicines and medical devices safer and more effective. We urge you to support these important bills through conference and Vote YES on final passage. The outcome could improve the lives of countless children across the nation.

Very little information is currently known about how children may react to a majority of medicines. Often children are under-dosed or overdosed, because doctors simply don't know how much of a drug they need. The solution is simple: In order to ensure correct medical dosages and drug formulations, medicines must be tested and produced specifically for children.

Congress must pass legislation to ensure that children have access to the same safe and effective medicines and medical devices that we demand for ourselves as adults. Please support these important pieces of legislation.

Children are NOT little adults, neither physiologically, emotionally or intellectually. Children should NOT use the same medicines as adults, not even in much lower doses. Neither should elderly people who's metabolisms are vastly different as when they were younger.

Our children deserve to have the best medicine and medical choices out there. It shouldn't matter where they live or even if their parent/s don't have alot of money. Kids are our future and if we can provide them with the best possible medicine,and medical devices, we should. KIDS don't have a say in what's best for them in certain situations, so we need to do whatever we can to keep them safe and healthy. Since all children are very important, they should never be forgotten.
