4,340 3:12 am PDT, Apr 20 Heike Mank The Kichwa people have a right to live where they live. They have a right to live in peace and in a healthy surrounding. Everyone should support them in their fight against environmental pollution. It's unbelievable what the petrol companies try to do in such a natural jewel.  Can't they imagine what effect their "activities" will have someday on the rest of the world when all that waste will have reached the Atlantic Ocean? Will all the other countries wake up then? Who controlls such companies that don't care about people and nature? THE DESTRUCTION OF THE RAINFOREST HAS TO BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY! I saw a program about the brave Kichwa people and their fight on TV yesterday. It was very interesting and sad, I must say although I'm very interested in South America I didn't know that the situation was that bad and I was really shocked. I wonder why this program was only shown on a smaller channel at noon - it should have been shown in one of our German main channels so that it can be seen by many more people. Heriberto Gualinga and all the other Kichwa people are very brave and I wish them all the best for the future. Don't give up and try to reach more people all over the world!

STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR SACRED RAINFOREST (SARAYACU KICHWA COMMUNITY)

Dear President of Ecuador; Pablo Teran, Minister of Energy and Mines; and Officials of the Government,

We know that Ecuador has a biodiversity of culture and nature in the Amazon Rainforest, and that it is the "Lungs of the World". For us it is very sad to know that the Oil Companies with your approval is going to destroy completely the Amazon region, especially Block 23.

It is the moral responsibility of all the inhabitants of this planet to care and protect this place. Many countries do not even have such places and riches that your country Ecuador possesses. We urge you to stop with this killing and massacre that is about to occur to the peoples who live there and the life of the nature that exists in this region. We urge you to respect and uphold the rights of ILO169 guaranteed to indigenous peoples signed by your country.

In hope that our petition is received, we anticipate giving you our congratulations for saving a region that is so vital and important to the whole world.
