Help Wild Tigers Survive

There may be as few as 3,200 wild tigers in the world today -- and they need our help. The world's remaining tigers are threatened by poaching, habitat loss and fragmentation, and conflict with humans.

Your senators can help tigers by authorizing a new postage stamp whose purchase would support wildlife conservation projects -- to create protected habitats, stop illegal poaching, and expand education.

Ask your senators to support the Stamp Act today -- and help save the world's remaining tigers!

Dear Senator,

As your constituent, I write to seek your support for H.R. 1454, the Multinational Species Conservation Funds Semipostal Stamp Act, recently passed by the House, which would benefit global priority species such as tigers, rhinos, elephants, great apes and marine turtles, without any burden on the U.S. taxpayer.

This act would allow members of the public to voluntarily support conservation through the purchase of a postage stamp at a price slightly above the first class mail rate. The additional monies would go to the US Fish and Wildlife Service to implement congressionally authorized programs to conserve the world's most majestic wildlife. The cost of designing the stamps and administering semipostal sales at the U.S. Postal Service would be deducted from the supplement.

As with the Breast Cancer Research Stamp, the U.S. Postal Service would issue a Multinational Species Conservation Funds semipostal stamp to be sold to the public at a premium price. The revenue these unique wildlife stamps generate would support the conservation of wildlife, under H.R. 1454. This creative funding mechanism would help to combat illegal poaching, resolve human-animal conflicts, protect habitat, and support conservation education programs.

H.R. 1454 has the potential to raise a significant amount of money for wildlife. For this reason, I urge you to support this important legislation and ensure it becomes law this year.
