Hello I'm an immigrant from Scotland, I have a wife who is born and raised in the USA and also a daughter too whom we conceived in Scotland but was born in America. I did not illegally cross the border, I arrived on a visa. I got married on my wife's back yard in kentucky, and since we are now expecting our second daughter in 6 months. I've been in USA for close to 4 years now, and which 2 of those I've been deemed "illegally overstayed". This is mainly due to my government closing down through Covid and unable to provide the USCIS documentation for my application of residency. I payed the money for my application which is in the thousands I might add, I'm not a man from wealth, I'm just a normal average guy, I just want to provide for my family, I just want to be able to work, pay taxes and be a normal human being. Instead I'm under constant threat of losing my whole world. Ice has sent deportation papers for me. This is causing trauma to not only immigrants like me, but most importantly the American citizens that it is affecting, am I a criminal for what I have done? I don't see it in my eyes, all I've had is the best intentions. Does my wife deserve to not have a partner to help here through emotional and financial hardships like every other American family? Does my daughter deserve not to have her father in her life? Does my unborn child deserve to not meet her father?
I do not agree with immigrants crossing into America illegally as I can see the tremendous damage it can cause on the economy. Many immigrants do arrive on illegitimate grounds, but would you say I'm one?
I'm 27 and I can't work, I can't feed my family. If I try I'll be deported. If you are a man with a family please take a minute and imagine that. How hopeless and worthless it would make you feel. That your family don't deserve as much as any other American family just because I am from somewhere different?
I have been with my wife for almost 6 years now. I have not committed any crimes, I'm a good person with good personal and family morals. I may be writing this petition in a personal format but I know I am not alone in these situations. I am 1 voice out of thousands of whispers.
Please let's take this petition and send it as high as it needs to go. I am begging everyone please don't let me be taken from my family, it is all I have. My life will be nothing without them. I fear for them.
