Say NO to the Energy Hub!

Pennsylvania could have a bright future as a major player in meeting our country's energy needs through clean and renewable sources of energy like wind and solar. Unfortunately, the public narrative about Southeast Pennsylvania becoming an "energy hub" has focused on short-sighted economic opportunities for processing and using fossil fuel energy sources.

There is amazing potential for Pennsylvania to become a leader in clean energy - something that would benefit our economy tremendously and also protect our environment now and in the future.

Expanding regional fossil fuel infrastructure raises many significant environmental and safety concerns, including trains carrying volatile Bakken shale through the region's most populated areas, pipeline development causing increased stream sedimentation and removal of riparian buffers, and air contamination from leaking pipelines and refinery operations.

Instead of locking in a regional fossil fuels infrastructure for decades to come, we need to tell our legislators that Pennsylvanians support investment in clean and renewable energy alternatives such as wind and solar.

Take action today: Let Pennsylvania's legislators know that you support more incentives and fewer barriers to clean renewable energy, including raising the AEPS targets, limiting out-of-state SRECs, developing a sustainable funding source such as a "green bank," and exempting solar equipment from sales tax.
Dear [Legislator]

Pennsylvania's continued extraction of its natural resources and Philadelphia's proposed role as an "energy hub" are driving fossil fuel infrastructure and transmission development throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, the conversation about a regional "energy hub" has focused on the economic opportunities for processing and using fossil fuel energy sources, not the opportunities for clean and renewable sources of energy like wind and solar.

As your constituent, I ask you to support investment in clean and renewable energy alternatives such as wind and solar. Thank you.
