Dear Sir,

Hereby we urge the Indonesian government to end the suffering of common macaques (Macaca fascicularis and Macaca nemestrina) by prohibiting the export for research and the catching of macaques from the wild to end up as a pet or slaughtered for food commercially. In Jakarta and beyond 'exclusive'  restaurants can still be found where macaques are being killed, their skull cracked open while fully aware. All primates deserve the right to live in freedom. Primates are smart, social and share emotions like ours. Therefore the exploitation for commercial purposes should not be tolerated and we are concerned about the welfare of these primates. The common Indonesian macaques (Macaca fascicularis and Macaca nemestrina) should recieve better protection. Please raise their status and end the commercial trade in these primates.

Yours sincerely,

The undersigned
