Ecover can become even more animal friendly

Ecover has dedicated over 20 years of reaserch into the development of products which use the inherent power of nature. The unique range offers many environmental advantages that benefit humans, animals and the environment. However Ecover do continue to use ingredients that may have been tested on animals. This means that they are still contributing to animal testing.

For over 20 years Ecover have made outstanding achievements creating products that are environmentally and animal friendly.

Their products are exremely bio-degradable - have a minimum impact on aquatic life - are made from recyclable materials - and are not tested on animals.

However despite not testing their finished products on animals, Ecover do continue to use ingredients that may have been tested on animals providing the ingredients have not been tested on animals within the last five years. Meaning an ingredient may be excluded one year because it falls within the 'last five years bracket', but included the next year when it falls outside this bracket. This is known as the 'five year rolling rule'.

For any company to be completely animal friendly, it must not only refuse to conduct or comission animal testing itself but must also adhere to a clear fixed cut off date policy, meaning that the company will not use ingredients that have been animal tested after a fixed date the company themselves have chosen eg.1987.

We the undersigned give our compliments to Ecover for the amazing work they have done so far, and urge them to continue their good work by adhering to a clear fixed cut off date policy - meaning that Ecover will not use ingredients that have been animal tested after a fixed date they themselves have chosen eg.1987.

If Ecover do so, and agree to have their entire chain auditted, they will then be able to seek approval under the Humane Household Products Standard (HHPS).
