Stop the UK Government from Introducing "Extreme Disruption Orders"!

UK Home Secretary Theresa May is proposing a new counter-terrorism strategy called "extreme disruption orders." This strategy would severely limit the speech rights of individuals deemed to be extremists who haven't broken any laws.

Police could apply to the UK's high court for an order to ban the individual from broadcasting, participating in public protests or speaking at public events. Individuals under these restrictions would be required to submit any proposed print or web publication to the police for approval.

Britain's national database already contains records of so-called extremists, and some names appear just for organizing meetings for environmental issues. May's proposal would give too much power to the government to arbitrarily ban viewpoints they don't agree with, which has frightening implications for all citizens. Please sign the petition to urge the UK to reject the proposed "extreme disruption orders."
