No More Mercury Pollution in Florida's Everglades

Polluters control the state of Florida, and our Everglades are suffering the consequences.

While big corporations fight even the most minimal environmental regulations, mercury from sugar plantations is wrecking Florida's wildlife and its wetlands. Scarier still, these high levels of mercury can cause tremendous health problems for people whose drinking water includes runoff from the Everglades.

That can reduce fertility and, when expectant mothers are exposed, cause birth defects and developmental issues in unborn babies.

Florida can do something to curb mercury pollution in the Everglades and protect our health and our environment, but only if we stand up to the big polluters and demand they are held accountable for toxic runoff!

Mercury doesn't just cost us the Everglades treasured wildlife, it can cost lives too. Let your representatives know: We need better regulation of mercury, and we need it today.
