The State of Kansas has taken Raymond and Amelia Schwab's kids, and these parents need our help to get them back. Raymond Schwab is a Gulf War veteran who recently took a job in Colorado where he can use medical cannabis to treat his post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Before he moved, the State of Kansas removed five of his children from the home after a family dispute in April.
The Kansas Department for Children and Families (KSDCF) found no evidence of abuse or neglect, but now says they will not return the children unless Raymond stops using cannabis to treat his PTSD. I live in Colorado now, but I was raised in Kansas. I know that the Sunflower State can be conservative. But requiring a father to forgo necessary treatment in order to get his kids back is beyond ridiculous – it's downright cruel.
Whether Kansas agrees with Colorado laws or not, the state has a Constitutional obligation to respect Colorado's laws and a moral obligation to reunite this family.
