Target:Governments and Decision Makers Around the World Sponsored by:Christian Blind Mission
For children in developing countries, there are many immediate threats to their vision. Vitamin A deficiency, trachoma, cataracts and low vision are just a few.
The good news is that 75 percent of blindness is avoidable - you can help to eliminate avoidable blindness!
Kofi Annan, Secretary General for the United Nations and Dr. Gro Harlem Brundtland, former Director General of the World Health Organization, and over 80 Government Ministers have already signed the VISION 2020 Declaration of Support.
Join them - and thousands of other Canadians - as we tell governments and decision makers around the world that 'The Right to Sight' should be a fundamental human right.
By the year 2020, 100 million people will needlessly go blind unless joint global action is taken now. Your voice will make a difference. Please show your support today by adding your name!

As a person whose sight (and life) was saved by brain surgery when I was 21/2, I am very thankful for my sight! I work with children who have special needs, and being able to see makes a BIG difference in their quality of life.
Since 75% of blindness is preventable, let's prevent it! Make sight a basic human right.

How does anyone need to take even one minute 'thinking' about this? 100 million in 10 years will go blind! Not even 1 person going blind when it can be prevented is acceptable. Do not hesitate one more second - do what needs to be done.

Our children are our legacy. When their health can be protected it is our responsibilty to do it. Our next generation needs to be stronger than ever to withstand the major changes that face our world. They must be able to see a future they can be part of.

Blindness is a terrible illness that can drastically ruin a life. Especially in children who would not understand or know how to take it. I would hate to be refused the right to sight and I would be equally apalled to see anyone else suffer.

Because when my first child was born, at the age of 3 months old she was diagnosed with Retinitas Colaboma which meant that she would never be able to see like everyone with what is considered normal vision. Then when she was about not quite 2 yrs old, there was a gentleman who was the janitor of the building were we worked and he told me one day that the next time he went to Church he would ask for a small amount of Holy Water. Which he did, and he put it over my baby girls eyes. Well, today my baby girl is 30 years old and has 3 younger siblings, but she is no longer on the legally blind list and although she wears glasses to "protect" her good eye from getting damaged, she lives with her kitty and just this past summer graduated with Honors from a course she took so she could work in the career of her choice. And she was hired were she did her unpayed placement before she even graduated. So I would like to see other children get any help that is available to prevent them and their parents from going through the anguish that I went through when I found out that my baby girl was blind at 3 months old. And at that time I was a single mother.
