What most candidates for office never realize, or never address, is the passion that the majority of the American public has in their hearts for animals and their welfare and treatment.
Groups and individuals that support animal welfare are actually one of the largest in our nation. In reality they have the capacity to be larger than the NRA. They carry huge influence, contribute, volunteer, and many times choose parties and vote for candidates based solely on their animal welfare support and records. Candidates need to know that the majority of Americans are against horse slaughter. In California it is actually a felony to sell a horse to slaughter for human consumption.
Therefore,
We are asking FOX News and all the other major networks to ask the Candidates for President of the United States the following question.
While most Americans feel that our beloved horses are pet and companion animals that deserve protection, they are shipped over our boarders every year by the tens of thousands to be slaughtered and in Mexico and Canada. It is called “business” and is pushed and published as a necessity and benefit. However, what is NEVER known is that it is actually bad business for America as only a few foreign owned slaughterhouses operating in these countries, a hand full of killer buyers (many breaking the law), a few truckers, and Canada and Mexico benefit from the cruel and inhumane transportation and slaughter of America’s horses.
These are not old crippled unwanted animals that should never be transported according to all states humane laws, but horses that would generate millions of dollars in any number of ways-feed, supplies, tack, clothing, rides and recreation, vet care, horse shows, trailers and vehicle sales, etc., and the taxes on these products.
Do you also know that Slaughter bound horses leaving the United States are gone from our economy FOREVER, and NO TAX OR REVENUE IS PAID BECAUSE THEY ARE SOLD AS HUMAN FOOD!
Would you help stop and support a ban on the slaughter of America’s beloved Horses?
