Machine Gun Bacon? Tell the GOP: America Demands Substance in Politics

You can't make this stuff up.

Senator Ted Cruz (TX) released a video of himself professing to using a machine gun to make bacon. Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) blended his cell phone after Donald Trump (NY) released the senator's phone number to the public. And Senator Rand Paul (KY) filmed himself chainsawing the federal tax code apart.

These men want to be President of the United States, but American voters — and the office of the presidency — deserve far more respect than the viral videos, outrageous rhetoric, and sideshow antics that the GOP field has displayed so far.

Dear Candidate,

As someone who believes in the importance of substance to our elections and democratic process, I strongly urge you spend more time discussing how you will help solve problems and bring America together and less time making silly videos and grappling for the most outrageous soundbite.

[Your Comments]

The recent wave of outrageous rhetoric and silly videos does nothing to advance our country. The presidency is an important job and it demands serious-minded leaders, not sight gags and over-the-top rhetoric. In 2016, voters will remember the candidates who failed to treat our votes with the respect they deserve.

Sincerely,
