Tell Trudeau: We Stand with People Forced to Flee

Donald Trump is unleashing policies that are sexist and islamaphobic. His Executive Order on refugees slams the door shut on thousands of people forced to flee their homes. Canada needs to distance itself from this kind of intolerance and stand up for women and men whose rights are at risk.

If we tell our government to increase our resettlement numbers right now, we can make sure that thousands of refugees are safe from harm.

Tweets are not enough. Prime Minister Trudeau must immediately condemn this Executive Order, demand that it be rescinded, and resettle even more refugees to Canada.

Our government has shown that they will stand up for the rights of women and refugees around the world. And so have Canadians. Thousands joined the women's marches across our country. Thousands more have welcomed Syrians into our communities. Now is not the time to back down.

We need to say no to sexism and fear-driven intolerance. We need to stand proudly for the rights of women and refugees. We need to build bridges, not walls.

Sign our petition to urge Trudeau to oppose Trump's executive order on refugees and raise our refugee resettlement number immediately.

Subject: Increase Refugee Resettlement Numbers

Dear Prime Minister Trudeau,

I am writing to you to urge you to publicly condemn President Trump’s recent Executive Order on refugees.

Tweets are not enough. Our government has shown that they will stand up for the rights of women and refugees around the world. Now is not the time to back down. We need to say no to sexism and fear-driven intolerance. We need to stand proudly for the rights of women and refugees. We need to build bridges, not walls.

The refugees impacted by this decision are among the world’s most vulnerable people - women and men who have fled unfathomable violence and loss. I urge you to redouble your commitments to vulnerable refugees by:

1) Making a public statement to condemn the US administration’s Executive Order and call for it to be rescinded;

2) Pledging to increase the number of refugees in Canada’s resettlement program immediately;

3) Rescinding the 'Safe Third Country' agreement.

Sincerely,

[Your name]
