Tell the BLM: Charge Big Oil more for drilling on public land! Comment deadline June 19!

The Obama administration is taking steps to boost the royalties that energy companies must pay for the oil and gas they pull from public lands - for the first time since the 1920s.

Increasing fees to drill for oil and gas is good for the environment. Higher rates for Big Oil means less unnecessary drilling, which will help reduce climate change.

Not charging the big oil and gas companies royalty rates in line with 2015 prices also takes away money from taxpayers. Why should companies like Shell profit off our lands while the rest of us suffer the environmental damage? They need to pay for what they do. This is money that could help improve environmental health, recreation facilities, climate research, and wildlife management, including help for endangered species.

Our public lands are worth too much to our future generations. Will you support the effort to charge Big Oil more for using public lands? Please sign and share the petition by the official June 19 comment deadline!
