Help end painful gas chamber deaths of shelter animals in Michigan

I was so shocked and embarrassed recently when I found out my home state of Michigan allows carbon monoxide gas chamber euthanasia. These are chambers of horror and unspeakable suffering for our companion animals, pets just like yours and mine, fresh out of luck, without a home and no more room at the "shelter".
They are loaded into the gas chamber, en mass, piled on top of each other, cats may be mixed with dogs, the door shut, the gas turned on.  It can take up to 40 minutes for the animals to slowly suffocate to death. I know, terrible to imagine, isn't it? The terror and pain, each animal fighting for air, trying to claw their way out. They defecate, they urinate, they scream and cry out. Many times the chambers are malfunctioning, leaking and overcrowded, resulting in mishaps. The result can be a slower death, mere unconsciosness and assumed death before the animal is placed in a freezer or discarded in a garbage bag, dumpster, landfill or incinerator. Some animals do not die the first time, and are put back in to be gassed again. Imagine their terror.

Gas chamber deaths have been banned as inhumane for the worst criminal offenders imaginable and no one can deny the horrors endured in gas chambers in Germany during WW2. And yet, decades later, Michigan has failed to protect it's companion animals from this unimaginable cruelty to end their life.

Please sign this petition -these bills are in legislation now. Ban gas chambers in Michigan-LETS GET IT PASSED!!!  Make sure the Governor knows we will accept nothing less. The animals of Michigan are depending on you.
