Help Your Kids Make Their Mark

Make Your Mark Week will be celebrated October 16 -22, and culminates on Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service. It strives to inspire and mobilize youth to use their energy, ingenuity and compassion to "make their mark on the world" through hands-on service.

This is the perfect time to show the children in your life how easy it is to care for the world and all its inhabitants. It can be something as simple as turning off the lights when leaving a room or helping to plant a tree. Other ideas include:

* donating a gently worn book to the library;
* giving too-small clothes to a shelter;
* helping them read to a younger child.

These ideas and others will help instill awareness that everything the child does matters and has an impact on the wider world.
