Help End Child Hunger

By the time you've read this story a starving child will die.

Imagine relying on growing food and raising livestock to feed your family. But due to drought in the past year, you haven't been able to grow anything. Your year's harvest is non-existent — and you can't put food on the table.

In South Sudan, this is a daily reality for families like Al's. Conflict in the region has also meant that they aren't able to travel outside their village to gather food. For children like Al, starvation is a real threat. And his family is in fear of the coming months.

In a good year, the grain stores would be full, but this year, Al's mother, Regina Libiriko says: "I harvested 10 bundles of sorghum, and as I have six children, it will run out by the end of August. Then I will go to the bush and collect the leaves that we always eat and prepare that for the children."

Every year, 3.1 million children under 5 years die from diseases caused by hunger; that’s one death every 10 seconds.

Plan International knows that no child should die of starvation. Hunger and malnutrition have devastating effects on a child, physically and mentally. Children should not have to suffer this way.

Together, we can help save children from starvation. Pledge your support today.
