Stop dodgy dealings in British Overseas Territories

We've all been shocked by recent revelations of corruption. It's a global problem with ordinary people paying the real price, especially in the poorest countries - and we will only beat it by working together.

What is happening? People who want to hide their assets store money in countries or territories where few questions are asked about where it came from. They set up so-called "shell companies" and don't have to prove their identities so they can hide corrupt activity. The Panama Papers revealed that British Overseas Territories are the most popular location for these anonymous companies.

What has to happen now? The UK government can close the legal loopholes that allow dodgy businesses and corrupt individuals to thrive by shining a light on the Overseas Territories. The authorities in the Territories should make available to the public the real identities of those who own companies and trusts registered there.

The 12th of May world leaders will meet for a crucial anti-corruption summit in London. David Cameron must lead by example and take action to stop this scandal that keeps people poor everywhere.
Dear David Cameron,

Please shine a light on the British Overseas Territories by making public the true owners of companies and trusts registered there. Your action will help stop the dodgy dealings that keep people trapped in poverty

Sincerely,
