Ask the UK Government to put women and girls first in the fight against climate change

Climate change is a very real and dangerous threat, and it's happening now. Women and girls living in poverty are hit hardest — all by a crisis they didn't cause. Help us push for a fair global deal at the upcoming UN climate talks in Paris, by asking the UK government to put the most vulnerable people first.

The impacts of climate change aren't as obvious as you think. Laily Begum (pictured) is an activist and local politician in Bangladesh, where she campaigns hard to abolish child marriage. But she says the impacts of climate change in her area are making this difficult

"Of course climate change is making things worse. Just recently the water breached the embankments and many homes have been destroyed and fields flooded," she said. "Children can't get to class. They lose interest in studying. Then parents start to see children as a burden and think if we can get one child married then it will be a relief for us."

Climate change is pushing people further into poverty, and many families are forced to make tough decisions just to cope.

Ahead of key climate talks in Paris, we want the UK government to commit to a deal that will put the poorest women and children first, giving them the means to adapt to climate change and its devastating impacts.

Ask Amber Rudd MP — the climate change Secretary — to ensure the Paris climate conference helps the world's poorest women and children deal with the effects of climate change.
