Protect Gray Wolves - Don't Kill Them!

Target: Gale Norton,, Secretary of the Interior
Sponsor: Defenders Of Wildlife
  • Signatures: 19,681
  • Goal: 20,000
  • Deadline: 8-21-2003
YOUR HELP NEEDED TO PROTECT WOLVES FROM CERTAIN DEATH!
Just when gray wolves are roaming free again in America, Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton is working to strip federal protections from many of these magnificent animals. Removing protections from these wolves would lead to numerous wolves being killed - especially in states where politicians hate them.

Please speak up now to save wolves! Once all but wiped out in the lower 48 by extermination campaigns, America's wolves are struggling to survive in the wild. DON'T LET GALE NORTON TAKE THEM OFF THE ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST!! They need protection for their fragile recovery to continue!

Please sign our petition urging Interior Secretary Gale Norton to support strong federal protections for wolves!

19,688 3:45 pm PDT, Mar 27 Mr. Johann Hollar Because it's not our decision whether or not to destroy wildlfie. They are very noble creatures and they don't deserve this sort of treatment. Besides my nickname is J-Wolf, I wouldn't be much of a wolfman if I didn' defend the species that I based my name off of
19,687 4:00 pm PDT, Mar 25 Mr. Justin Mark Once we have selfishly used up everything on this planet, including animals for fur, meat, etc., then we won't have anything left. We need to help speak up for animals because WE ARE THEIR VOICE! They are beautiful animals that deserve the freedom given to them.
19,686 3:02 pm PDT, Mar 15 Mr. Glyn Priestman I like seeing animals doing their own thing in nature , as it was meant yo be . once there are no more , then it is too late .
19,685 6:37 pm PDT, Mar 12 Ms. Linet Padron becuase they help one of the mos beautifil things in this world, the animals. as animals they are incredibles animals and beautiful
19,684 12:51 pm PST, Mar 7 Ms. Sheri Hall Very important to me, for i love this animal and they should be protected. they are beautiful animals
19,683 12:54 am PST, Feb 21   Anonymous We have no right to kill any other living being, period.
19,682 11:16 am PST, Feb 16 Ms. Yvonne Hall They have been apart of this land much as we have and they have a right to be here as well. They are still wolves, regardless of their breed.
19,681 1:25 pm PST, Feb 14 Ms. sarah Jane The impact humans are having on the planet is phenominal, These wolves need to be protected so our furutre generations can see them and learn from them. If it were not for wolves we would not have the domestic dog and many lives would have been lost. (military, assistance dogs, lifesaving, - the list continues.) It's about time that man shared the planet, we are the number one top predator we beat anything, we NEED to save these animals before its too late. Please help them. We have taken enough of the planet and populated enough to flourish, we need to stop before it's too late. Stop the unneccesary killing, torturing and inhumane acts. If guantanomo bay can close, they why can't we stop wiping out almost extinct animals. They are beautiful, gifted majestic creatures. if it were not for wolves we would not have dogs whether for companion, assistant, military or as pets. these animals have been persecuted, hunted and tortured for centuries just because man has chosen to take over their land and over populate. Wolves are classed as predators, but the only animal above them in the eco-system is man. Technically that makes humans a predator, yet we do not have control breeding or erradication. It really pains me to see the pain and death of these wonderful rare animals. I don't understand how some can choose to hunt them and still sleep at night. I live for the day wolves can once again be free, It's about time we give them some land where they can once again roam protected and safe hunting as they will and helping our land grow for the better. I do not come from the states, but it pains me to see that we just can't learn from our mistakes. Please please spare these animals, I beg of you.
19,680 10:12 am PST, Feb 4 Dr. Alex Bowdoin They are majestic animals. All animals should be protected.
19,679 1:05 am PST, Feb 2 Ms. Sharona Dale Saving endangered wildlife is extremely important to me as our children and grandchildren need to be able to see, admire and respect these beautiful creatures. They have been abused and mistreaded by human beings for centuries and deserve our love and respect.
19,678 9:53 am PST, Jan 29 Ms. Roxane Greyhound They are amazing They rule
19,677 7:40 pm PST, Jan 24   Blindbaby Bluez T keep the eco-system alive and because all animals need protection
19,676 6:01 am PST, Jan 22   Anonymous becuase the wild life was part of gods creation they are part of the community and they are very nice animals and GODS CREATION
19,675 9:09 am PST, Jan 15 Mrs. Carmen Lytle Maintaining balance. Compassion. They are part of the whole. Without them, other species would be in danger...up to and including homosapiens.
19,674 6:00 am PST, Jan 15   Heidi Coffey Wildlife is as important in this life and earth as humans, if not more so. Considering the population of these wolves, it makes absolutely no sense, and must be stopped. The universe depends on wildlife and all of nature to survive, to thrive. I believe all animals, and nature is for us to respect and protect, in order for the circle of life to be in harmony, balance and to save the environment and stop global warming. These wolves are an absolute necessary part of maintaining the perfect balance and harmony of wildlife, the environment. Humans are killing off the single most important thing that will eventually kill them. Without the balance of nature and wildlife, we will be on the endangered species list. The arrogance and ignorance of certain people are destroying our entire universe.
19,673 9:55 am PST, Jan 14 Ms. Marilyn Velez Animals are part of Gods Kingdom and should be protected just like we protect babys. These are beautiful majestic creatures that need to be protected no animal should be harmed period if we don't bother them they won't bother us. I have been around wolves and I can tell you I was not harmed at all I even fed them and felt quite a connection.
19,672 11:03 am PST, Jan 12   Kasey Lehman I have adopted a wolve from the Cinicinnati zoo & i hope that some day my wolf can be released into the wild. but if it is i want to be able to know that its in no danger of being hunted.
19,671 10:19 am PST, Jan 9 Ms. Savannah Mick It's important to me because I'm a huge animal lover. As a high school senior, I am going into the medical field to work with animals Wolves have been around for centuries, dating back to the Native Americans, why should we kill off these guardians?! tell me this, Indians believe that the wolves are guardians when they pass on.
19,670 6:52 pm PST, Jan 3 Ms. Anonymous because it kills me to see people gunning down these wolve like there nothing but they are something important to life there not as bad as you see on t.v and im sooooo detecated to them! there just so beutiful and wonderful ive never seen 1 but soon i will id do almost anything to help these amazing creature
19,669 3:36 pm PST, Dec 16   Anonymous Because I love wolves!
19,668 9:08 am PST, Nov 30   Ethan Wolf It is important because each animal species on this planet has a role to play in this world, and if one of these creatures goes extinct then we killed off one of the important roles Mother Nature plays If they weren't, chances are that hunters and ranchers would kill any on sight with probably a shotgun.
19,667 10:38 pm PST, Nov 21   Raine Yoshikawa Because I think that animals are as worthy as people and are a huge part of our planet. Because I think that wolves have a very strong connection with dogs, and that one day, like the successful dog, will be a great companion of men.
19,666 3:48 pm PST, Nov 21   Rena MOO! I live on the planet that I luv and care for! Wolves and wildlife are part of it!
19,665 1:54 pm PST, Nov 21 Mr. Anonymous i love wolves without any kind of animal were nit just killing animals were killing the world
19,664 9:16 am PST, Nov 21   Jenny Riemer They are beautiful animals and if we kill them they will put our ecosystem out of step. They are very important animals. They are more scared of us than we are of them!! All animals should and need to be protected. No animal deserves to be killed. They will (as I said before) put our ecosystem out of step. DON'T KILL THEM! Killing them would make us murders. If you want to be protected why not try protecting someone else first!
19,663 5:05 pm PST, Nov 20   Katherine McCool Nothing deserve's to die by human's No animal deserves to not be protected, yet some are not protected. If an animal is endangered, help it, and good thing's will come back to you for doing that.
19,662 7:19 am PST, Nov 20 Ms. Katie Rinaman Because they are such beautiful, majestic, and important animals. If they are taken away forever, that would not only disrupt many people, it would set the eco-system out of step. if they are not, (as I mentioned before) the eco-system in many places will fall out of step. They are vitally important for weeding out sick animals (such as deer and elk) so that other of those animals may not get sick.
19,661 9:54 am PST, Nov 19   Tonkii Giano Every animal on this planet keep the ecosystems balance. From the tiniest bug or the biggest whale needs to be protected and helped. Wolves are beautiful creatures. Every species and color. The keep the balance. We need to save them. H.O.W.L. Help Our Wolves Live
19,660 2:00 pm PST, Nov 17 Ms. Roo Lavette They have the same right as we do living here in our world and in our time. Changing that, means telling everyone what we learn in school is such a big lie. We need to save them. I love the wildlife, and every little detail. They were here long before us and murdering them makes us murderers.
19,659 4:35 am PST, Nov 15 Mr. MEUNIER Eric Laissons les loups vivres. Ce sont avant tout des animaux merveilleux et ne l'oublions pas l'ancêtre de non petits toutous adorés
19,658 8:19 pm PST, Nov 14 Ms. Julia Porter Because there is not much of the wildlife left on this planet. They are endangered species
19,657 6:13 pm PST, Nov 5 Ms. Faalolo'i Ofisa Wolves are also living things, they too need to live just like we do.Wolves also help maintained the numbers of large animals. They also kill only to eat and to survive like every living thing on this planet.
19,656 7:34 am PDT, Oct 27 Mr. Wayne Johnson We all inherited this earth to co - exist together but due to the parasital nature of man all our animals suffer. They need our protection not only in the US and Africa but everywhere. Being an African this cause is close to my heart. All wolves should be protected because not only do they belong but they are also the most beautiful and unique creastures on earth. God help them.
19,655 11:54 pm PDT, Oct 26   Kikko Mun bbbbb bbbbb
19,654 12:50 pm PDT, Oct 26 Ms. Anonymous Because all animals are special and have a right to live. It would be like saying that all cats are horrid pets and should be killed it just doesn't make sense. They are sooo cute!
19,653 4:41 pm PDT, Oct 24 Mrs. Andjela gushiken I love them. And they look cute. There are not so many right.
19,652 1:47 am PDT, Oct 23 Mr. Robin Bradbury ilove wildlife, and my favroute animal specifically is the gray wolf. Its my animal spirit. they mean no threat to us they are scared of us as much as we are scared us
19,651 7:39 pm PDT, Oct 22 Ms. victoria novak Because it ensures that we will all be here on this great planet in the future and for future generations to enjoy. It should be of great importance to all of us to see this happens, if it isn't then we doom not just our future but our children't future of ever knowing about these magnificent animals. Is that what you want. Why not??? Should you be protected??? Now come on that is a stupid question. They are part of God's creation and part of the eco-system, who gave us the right to take them out of it. We are the ones who in our infinite wisdom devoured our way into their territory over the years where did we expect them to go, just like with many animals, where did we expect them to go. They are wild, they live on instinct what were they to do, they wound up in our backyards or in our garbage cans or crashing through windows in our "territory". No, it was still their territory, just changed. But we blamed them, not us which is where the blame should be laid. Us, poor humans have to go out and shoot the now bad animals who don't have anywhere do go. Poor human, my foot, we humans are the most dangerous predator on the face of the earth we kill for the pleasure of killing we kill to eradicate a species of animal from the face of the earth just to do it. An animal kills to protect itself or family or to eat, NOT FOR SPORT. STOP THE KILLING

Protect Gray Wolves - Don't Kill Them!

Dear Secretary Norton,

I urge you not to weaken federal protections for gray wolves. Wolves once roamed through all of the lower 48 states. Now they survive on less than 5 percent of their former range. Wolves are only just now starting to make a comeback. They need protection to continue their recovery. We need to save wildlife like wolves for future generations of Americans. Please live up to your promise to enforce the Endangered Species Act and do what is right for the wolf.

Sincerely,
