Fight LGBT Discrimination: Pass the Competitive Workforce Act in Florida!

Right now in Florida, someone can be fired from their job or kicked out of their house simply because they are gay or transgender.

Not only is that wrong, but it harms Florida's businesses, making it harder for them to attract top talent to our state and compete in the global economy. It's time to right this wrong—this year.

If you believe in fairness for ALL Floridians—including LGBT people—add your name to this petition, asking your legislators to add their name to this bill and support the Florida Competitive Workforce Act (FCWA), HB33/SB156.

There are two ways your legislator can help us pass the FCWA 1.) They can lend their name as a cosponsor, and 2.) Support the bill with their vote. Of course, they can also do both!

This important piece of legislation would update Florida's non-discrimination laws to include protections for gender identity and sexual orientation, bringing them in-line with 18 other states, and the policies of the majority of Fortune 500 companies.

Every single day, gay and transgender people are living at risk of being fired or denied basic protections like housing because of who they are or who they love. We must stand up for fairness—and we will.

This bill would not only help Florida businesses compete in a national and global marketplace, but would also ensure that Florida is a state where all people and families feel welcome, including those who are gay or transgender.

Comprehensive non-discrimination policies like the FCWA have been passed in 18 other states and mirror the policies of 61% of Fortune 500 companies. Now, it's time for Florida law to catch up by protecting gay and transgender people under state law so that we can attract top talent and compete in the national and global marketplace.

Please stand with the majority of Floridians who agree workers should be judged by their job performance and qualifications—and not based on who they are or who they love.
