Dear Congressperson,
A largely invisible tragedy happens every year as 10 million children die from preventable or treatable diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, and measles. I urge you to support the Global Child Survival Act to address the death and illness of children in the world's poorest countries.
U.S. leadership has made an enormous contribution in saving children's lives, but funding for these programs has remained stagnant in recent years. Effective and affordable tools exist that could prevent the deaths of millions of children each year. Immunizations, antibiotics, clean drinking water and vitamin supplements are a few of the simple interventions that we know can save lives.
Please support the bipartisan Global Child Survival Act and help ensure that the tools we have available are put to use improving the health of children and families around the world. To cosponsor this bill or for more information, please contact Nina Schwartz with Rep. Betty McCollum or Ziad Haider with Senator Chris Dodd.
Sincerely,
