Governor Daugaard: Veto the 'Bathroom Bill'!

  • by: Sarah Rose
  • recipient: South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard

On Tuesday, February 16, 2016 - the South Dakota State Senate passed a bill that would force students to use restrooms and other facilities based on their birth “chromosomes and anatomy”. This bill threatens the dignity, identity, and very well-being of transgender youth in South Dakota. We must act quickly - the bill has passed both state legislatures and now goes to the Governor's desk. This is our last chance to stop this bill from becoming law.

Transgender youth are already subject to bullying, dysphoria, and emotional distress - things that are only exacerbated when they are forced to endure unnecessary and cruel discrimination. Trans youth simply wish to use the bathroom of their chosen gender identity - nothing more.

Sign this petition and urge the Governor to take a stand for human decency and compassion and veto this bill.
