Stop Funding Cuts to Global Child Survival Programs

Meet six-month-old baby Exodus, who survived malaria. He recovered thanks to the quick treatment by staff at Save the Children's mobile health clinic in Uganda.

The U.S. has been a global leader in helping to save the lives of children from illnesses like malaria, pneumonia and diarrhea. Since 1990, American international aid helped reduce deaths of children worldwide by half.

But now, these programs that have helped millions are in jeopardy. Congress is considering President Trump's budget proposal, which makes devastating cuts to the foreign assistance budget. Drastic cuts to successful programs would reverse all the good that America has done to build stronger communities and save lives around the world.

We should preserve America's legacy of helping children around the world survive and thrive. Urge your members of Congress to reject any cuts to international child and maternal survival programs.

Subject: Reject Cuts to Maternal and Child Health Programs

I’m concerned about President Trump’s proposed budget cuts to international Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition programs.

From treatment for children suffering from malnutrition to vaccinations, these low-cost, high-impact programs provide live-saving help to children and families around the world.

Largely due to U.S. leadership, the deaths of children age 5 and under have been cut in half since 1990. But our work cannot stop there because more than 16,000 children still die each day from preventable causes.

The United States must continue its leadership in preventing deaths of children around the world. Please oppose any cuts to these life-saving programs.

I look forward to your response.
