Ban Oil Drilling in the Arctic - No Compromises

Now that Big Oil's made their mess in the Gulf of Mexico, they're looking for the next place to "drill baby drill." And they've got their eye on the Arctic.

Public outcry may soften now that the oil in the Gulf is capped. But we must stand strong against Big Oil -- they're ready to pounce when no one's looking!

The Arctic is a particularly dangerous place for offshore drilling. Not only is it home to animals like endangered fin and humpback whales and more than 3,000 belugas, but because of the rough Arctic waters, a spill there would be "ecological suicide," according to Defenders of Wildlife.

U.S. District Judge Ralph Beistline blocked oil and gas leases in the Arctic for now, but we can't let our guard down! Oil Companies are salivating, waiting to get their hands one of the last places they can dig for crude -- deep below the fragile ecosystems in Arctic waters.

Now, the ball is in Interior Secretary Ken Salazar's court. With 600 lobbyists, Big Oil has some big pull in Washington. Tell Salazar not to give in to pressure from Big Oil and keep offshore drilling out of the Arctic.
Dear Secretary Salazar,

Now that Big Oil's made their mess in the Gulf of Mexico, they're looking for the next place to drill. And they've got their eye on the Arctic.

Public outcry may soften now that the oil in the Gulf is capped. But we must stand strong against Big Oil -- they're ready to pounce when no one's looking!

Not only is it home to animals like gray and bowhead whales, endangered fin and humpback whales and more than 3,000 belugas, but because of the rough Arctic waters, a spill there would be "ecological suicide," according to Defenders of Wildlife.

Now, the ball is in your court. Don't give in to pressure from Big Oil and keep offshore drilling out of the Arctic for good.
