Save Yellowstone's Bison!

  • by: Sierra Club

In the past two weeks, more than 50 wild Yellowstone bison have been captured and shipped off to slaughter.

This slaughter is completely unnecessary. There are hundreds of thousands of acres of public land adjacent to Yellowstone for bison, if the Montana state government would only allow them to roam there.

Last year, state agencies released a historic proposal to give Yellowstone bison year-round access to these public lands, but no final decision has been made yet.

With Yellowstone bison being shipped to slaughter right now, it's critical that the governor hears from you today.

Please tell Governor Bullock that it's time to allow bison access to public lands in Montana.
Dear Governor Bullock,

I am writing to urge you to give Yellowstone bison year-round access to public lands in Montana adjacent to the Park.

The recent slaughtering of Yellowstone bison is cruel and completely unnecessary. Bison deserve to be treated as valued native wildlife, and should be allowed access to public lands in Montana. Capture and slaughter of wild Yellowstone bison gives Montana a black eye in the state and across the country.

Last year, recognizing significant changes on the landscape that eliminate conflicts between cattle and bison as well as the overwhelming public support for bison on lands outside the Park, your state agencies released a historic proposal to give bison year-round access to over 400,000 acres of primarily public lands adjacent to Yellowstone. Please demonstrate your leadership and make the right decision for wild bison -- give them room to roam in Montana.
