343 3:56 pm PDT, Jul 25 Anonymous Montgomery Alabama I am a Montgomery resident, and a 15 year old girl. I am very active in any wildlife or animal welfare projects because I care about this Earth. I understand one signature CAN make a difference. Hunting is a cruel sport, and unlike Native Americans I don't see hunters today who use every single part of the animal and let nothing waste. Plus these are state parks not hunting grounds. The public should be able to enjoy it for its beauty and the wildlife, not hunting animals there. If anyone would like to help my program, Save Wild Horses, please visit our petition: http://gopetition.com/petitions/save-wild-horses.html ALL OPINIONS MATTER, PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION ON STATE PARKS AND SIGN OTHERS TO HELP WILDLIFE!

323 10:26 am PDT, Aug 7 F J   Arkansas Tweety bird said it best "OOOOOO, what a hipa-twit!" All of the anti hunters that eat meat. It's OK to have someone else do your slaughtering and butchering for you. It's OK to push a button and have your dirty work done by others, just so long as you don't get anything on your hands. Disgusting. When not if, the grim times of lack come in this liberal nation of unreality glommers, the nay sayers will be elbowing for an opportunity to hunt and gather food. Venison or otherwise. Outcrys of ignorance. The louder a jackass brays, the smaller his brain. Bray on my anti-igmoes, bray on. PETA = people eating tasty animals and "POORLY INFORMED TEEN ACTIVISTS."
322 7:57 pm PDT, Jul 15 shelly cox arbyrd Missouri I really don't like the fact that people go out and kill deer and other wild life life animals just for fun. This should STOP. It's like people don't even think about what their about to do, it's like killing your own pets, people shouldn't just go and kill helpless animals that are just minding their own business, it's just stupid. Maybe someday people will realize how cruel this is.
321 9:08 pm PDT, May 31 Anonymous ruckersville Virginia I'm signing this petition because it's my civic duty. It is clear from the comments on this site that there is a serious hunter overpopulation run amuck. Too many of these killers are dangerous psychopaths who should have their assault toys confiscated immediately. It would be a kindness to take these sub "human" runts off the streets and lock them up in mental wards--their natural habitat. By the way, only a pip squeak would use an assault weapon on a deer. Real men--with GUTS--go hand to hand in combat with the animal planet. But don't hold your breath people. These twirps could NEVER cut it. Not even with a squirrel. No wonder these girlie men get off acting out with props. They need 'em because they would be NOTHING without 'em. And don't they know it!

316 7:59 pm PDT, Mar 19 Anonymous   Tennessee To prevent the petition. In the 1800's, the Whitetail deer population all but vanished. Today, they are over populated, create many serious accidents on our roads and pitfully, many starve to death in mountainous regions. Petition to stop? No, no way. Hunters and their licenses have given the Whitetail deer new life and they are found everywhere.

310 1:52 pm PST, Jan 11 Hunter ForLife BTown Georgia Nothing like venison twitchin' on the ground 60 yards out after being spine shot with the .270 Its even better when it has a fawn with it and the fawn BLEATS and CRIES for its dead mother for hours until you leave the stand. I also sometimes drive back country roads in my 4wheel drive looking for deer to smash with the old Ford just for fun. I try to knock their back hips off so they have to crawl across the road in pain and lay in the ditch for others to view. Hopefully if any of you Yankees are down my way you'll get to experience this joy too. Bring your kids and camcorders ITS A FAMILY TRADITION!!
309 9:34 am PST, Jan 11 Chris Kelly Saraland Alabama Hunting in the state parks is an absolute neccessity. They are not hunted with firearms in the state parks, rather with archery equipment making it a very safe but effective method. I say if you non-hunters want it changed, pay for trapping and relocating. At a cost of around 500 dollars per deer, you would need to collect $50000.00 a year for just 100 deer (per year). It is all a matter of finance. The state government would rather let more than willing hunters handle the task for little to nothing than fork out tens of thousands of dollars to handle the overpopulation of deer. Besides, a lot of hunters donate the nutritional deer meat to needy homes and families. So before you start knocking hunters, remember someone HAS to do it. Their not only keeping the deer from starving to death from overpopulation, but also feeding hungry people in the process. What's worse, killing a wild animal with archery equipment, or slaughtering farm animals with absolutely no chance... Get your priorities in line!!!
308 8:26 am PST, Jan 11 Ryan Willett   North Carolina Mrs. Stone, You indeed need help. I have survived two tours in Iraq, I am preparing for my third round there. I have no fear of any man no matter his size. Hunt me if you will, but I caution you, you'll never heard the sound of your death. Yes, I hunt, and do it with respect for the creatures I pursue, I would not grant you the same respect. I teach me sons to live from the earth. Can you do this? I doubt it. You quote "thou shalt not kill" You are in error. Litterally written, it is "thou shalt not murder." What you have also forgotten to read is that God told man to go forth and gather the plants and animals he placed here on earth for substinance. However, I don't think you took the time to finish the book as evidenced by your writting. The viciousness of your words is obvious in your writting. Would you be so brave to stand in room with me and lash the same? I doubt it.

Boycott Alabama's State Parks: Stop Special (Deer) Hunting Seasons!

In January of 2004, Barnett Lawley, Commissioner of Alabama's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, set a very dangerous precedent. He signed an ILLEGAL 'emergency rule,' to enable a special public deer bowhunt in Oak Mountain State Park. In doing so, he accommodated his department's clientele, the hunters of Alabama, who make up only 7% of this state's population.

Espousing the hunter's opportunistic mantra of 'overpopulation', Alabama's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources set the precedent of managing wildlife in a state park through killing.

(Rory Putman's book, 'The Natural History of Deer' states: "In our discussion of management, for control or exploitation, we have repeatedly stressed that most natural populations respond to reduction in numbers by increased productivity. Population reduction is thus a perpetual treadmill. Culling (killing) can prove not only expensive but counterproductive.")

When the bowhunters did not kill enough deer for Commissioner Lawley, in March 2004, he called in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife's Wildlife Services division, to kill more deer at night, using spotlighting. Hunting at night, and spotlighting specifically, are illegal in the state of Alabma.

Alabama's state parks, and the inhabitants therein, belong to ALL of this state's citizens; not just a special interest group.

Alabamians: A portion of your state taxes goes to support the state park system. With regard to this issue of hunting in state parks, there appears to be a situation of 'taxation without representation'!

In 1982, by state regulation, Alabama's, current and future, state parks were deemed to be SANCTUARIES for game animals and wildlife.

In May 2004, Commissioner Lawley signed a regulation providing for 'Special Hunts in State Parks' - encompassing ALL of Alabama's state parks!

We must have the audacity to insist of our state government, the return of our state parks' wildlife to management by NATURE!

STOP THE KILLING IN ALABAMA'S STATE PARKS!
