Andalusia has no Animal Protection Laws

Andalusia is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world because of its beautiful scenery and privileged weather. Millions of people visit this region every year without suspecting the abject misery the animals of Andalusia have to endure. Thousands of hunting dogs are kept in dark sheds all over the countryside starved, thirsty and often ill, dogs and cats get thrown out of running cars by the thousands on the highways, animals get ritually tortured with extreme sadism in regional fairs every year, to mention just a few of the cases we witness every day.
His Excellency Mr. President Manuel Cháves,

Dear Sir,

We request that the Law for Animal Protection of the draft dated November 1989 be approved in the region of AndalucĂa that you preside. It is unacceptable that, already in the 21st century, there are still areas of the European Union where animal protection laws do not exist and where people's cruelty and barbarism to them do not interest anyone in the government.

Your region obtains its income mostly from the tourist trade. The spectacle of dogs and cats being abandoned on the roads, horses distressed in the fields with thirst and hunger, animals getting tortured to death at local fiestas, sick animals being sold in pet shops at shopping centres etc., etc, present an unexpected third world image of the place that is repugnant and shocking to your visitors who come from civilized countries.

We urge you to not let this go any longer , and to take action for the animals of Andalusia. We trust that you will take these animals lives into consideration.

Sincerely
The Undersigned
