Target:U.S. House of Representatives Sponsored by:Care2.com
Over a quarter of the U.S.-Mexico border lies within public lands that endangered and threatened species like ocelots, jaguars and wolves need to survive. This includes hundreds of miles within the National Park system alone, running through such national treasures as Big Bend National Park and Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument.
Border security enforcement activities both place a tremendous burden on federal land management agencies and cause lasting damage to wildlife and habitat. We don't have to sacrifice our wildlife to protect our borders. Urge your U.S. Representative to co-sponsor the Borderlands Conservation and Security Act of 2007 (H.R. 2593) to help alleviate the harmful impacts of border enforcement activities on public lands, wildlife and borderland communities.
We took action on “Don't Sacrifice Wildlife to Secure the Border”

Greetings, please, help us protect our wild life and create a healthy safe environment for all living things. We all depend on each other to survives, and we must not forget that. We are a part of this earth community and we must not continue to abuse our relations with that community. Our actions as a species are threatening the health and well being of so many other species. We must all work towards living together in a peaceful and harmonious way. Security is knowing that we are taking care of our environments and able to ensure a healthy clean earth for our future generations.
give thanks

Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, has warned the country of “lawlessness” on our country’s southern border. I agree wholeheartedly with this concern of lawlessness – of Chertoff’s disregard of laws that have been constructed over many years to protect the social and environmental structure of the border region. The Department of Homeland Security wants to bully through the established protocol designed to protect our nation’s resources, just as the illegal immigrants they so resent bully through the US’s protocols on immigration.
Please join me in supporting Raul Grijalva’s H.R. 2593 the Borderlands Conservation and Security Act and choose to follow the tried and true laws developed by hard working Americans for the benefit of all - please don't allow the Deptartment of Homeland Security to ignore the laws that help make our country great.
Thank you,
Sarah Hucka

Dear Sirs/Mss:
The proposed wall is an insult to our friends and relatives in Mexico. It would be an environmental disaster. To use eminent domain is an exercise in futility as well as an illegal use of power. Imagine an 16-foot wall through the city of Brownsville!. Years of work and millions of dollars have been spent on the Lower Rio Grande Wildlife corridor to be sacrificed for what?
