Give Children A Voice

Show children that they have a choice, THEIR VOICE!  Tell your elected officials that children have a right to be educated, a right to live without being violated and a right of choice.

According to the 2003 National Crime Victimization Survey there were 198,850 victims of rape, attempted rape or sexual assault. Of approximately 199,000 victims, about 81,000 were victims of completed rape, 61,060 were victims of attempted rape, and 80,910 were victims of sexual assault.

Because of the methodology of the National Crime Victimization Survey these victims DO NOT include victims 12 or younger. While there are no reliable annual survey of sexual assaults on children, the Justice Department has estimated that ONE in SIX victims are under the age of 12.

The United States Department of Justice statistics state CONVICTED rape and sexual assault offenders serving time in state prisons report that TWO THIRDS of their victims
were under the age of 18, and 58% of those – or nearly 4 in 10 imprisoned violent sex offenders – said their victims were aged 12 or YOUNGER.

According to Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network only 40% of the rapes/sexual assaults were reported.

We are speaking for the 60% of voices that are not heard, the children that do not even know that they have a choice, and a voice. The only way to help these unheard forgotten citizens of our country is to educate. Better educate teachers to help them better see the signs of sexual abuse. Better educate parents on how they can protect their children. Educate our children about sexual abuse, let them know it is wrong, not their fault and that there is something they can do about it… THEIR VOICE.

As a society we are ashamed to know that this is happening to our children. But are we too ashamed to do something about it.

We ask you to educate our teachers, parents and most importantly our children. We ask you to bring attention to the forgotten, the unheard. We ask you to give our children their right of freedom to live without being violated. We ask you to give a voice to the voiceless.
