End Violence Against Women and Girls

Target: United States Congress
Sponsored by: International Rescue Committee
During the past 20 years sexual violence against women and girls has been a weapon of war. As many as 50,000 women and girls were raped during the war in Bosnia. And right now, rape is rampant in the Congo. Women and girls are raped and abused every day in almost every conflict around the world.

But you can help. Tell your elected officials in Congress to:
- Fund programs that prevent violence and respond to incidents of rape against women and girls;
- Support efforts to help women and girls recover their dignity, health, livelihood, and families;
- Include anti-sexual violence initiatives in relevant international assistance programs.

Tell Congress to make the fight against sexual violence a top priority for U.S. foreign policy and foreign assistance funding.

Dear [Decision maker]:

I urge you to fight against sexual violence a top priority for U.S. foreign policy and foreign assistance funding.

During most conflicts around the world, women and girls are targeted for sexual violence. Women and girls who live in conflict-affected regions are especially vulnerable to sexual abuse and exploitation.

The U.S. Government must make it a priority end this brutality. The U.S. can make a real difference in the lives of millions of women and girls across the globe.
We signed the “End Violence Against Women and Girls” letter!

The horrible things these women and girls go through must not be allowed to happen to anyone else. We can stop it. This is a heinous tragedy of massive proportions. We can save these women and girls and give them a shot at a life safe from assault.

As the mother of 2 daughters it is imperative to me that the atrocities perpetrated against women & girls be stopped. This is a worthy cause for the U.S. government to pursue.
