Restore National Prayer Day

President Barack Obama has canceled National Prayer Day and designated a day as National Prayer Day for Muslims and Isalms. He has stated that canceling National Prayer Day was to avoid offending anyone. This is offensive to Christians in the United States. No religion should have to sacrifice its day of prayer. If someone is from a Non-Christian religion they are still very welcome to celebrate their Faith on National Prayer Day. That is what it was created for. Vote to have Obama reverse his decision. Dear President Barack Obama,

We the undersigned understand that you have canceled National Prayer Day and declared September. We ask you to reverse this decision.

National Prayer day has been part of American culture for decades. Consider the numerous references to God, Chritianity, and religion in general in government, places of employment, businesses, and households. It was started in 1952 by President Harry Truman setting aside one day as National Prayer Day and then made official in 1988 when President Ronald Reagan designated the first Thursday in May as National Prayer Day. To many families it has holiday status as they use it to celebrate their faith with those of their beliefs.

In Asian nations where Isalm is the largest religion it is understandable that there is a National Prayer Day for them and there is nothing wrong with having one in America. However, it should not replace the prayer day for another religion. Christianity is the largest form of religion in the United States. It is offensive that their National Prayer Day is removed when a day is designated National Prayer Day for another religion. It is not unconstitutional in any way whatsoever. If individuals do not share the religion of a certain National Prayer Day they do not have to celebrate it. However, no National Prayer Day should be removed to make room for another. That indicates one religion is dominant over all other. This is banned by the 1st Amendment to the United States Constitution granting freedom of religion and the freedom of democracy in America where every individual has the right to choose to be the person they wish to be.

Therefore Mr. President we ask you to remove your cancelation of National Prayer Day so everyone can have a day to pray. Those from Mulsim or Islamic religions do not need a seperate day to be for their faith. National Prayer Day was set up for everyone of all religions, not just Christians, to be able to celebrate their faith together in their own way with everyone else.  Why not designate it as such. This continues the belief that all everyone is equal in America with no specific National Prayer Day given to each religion.
