Ontario's Greenbelt is nearly 2 million acres of protected lands, safeguarding nearly 244,000 acres of lakes, wetlands, rivers and streams. The Greenbelt protects the headwaters of our Great Lakes, giving us clean water for drinking, habitat for fish and other animals, and great places to enjoy activities such as swimming.
Thousands of acres of forested ravines and river valleys in our urban areas are not yet included in the Greenbelt and yet they are vitally important to the health and wellbeing of Ontarians.
Now we need your help to ensure all of the urban ravines and river valleys that flow from Ontario's Greenbelt be included in it.

While our cities continue to grow, we will need to protect our urban river valleys and ravines from encroaching development. These vital natural areas filter our air and protect water quality in the streams and rivers that flow through them to become the water that millions of Ontarians drink.
Municipalities such as Mississauga, Toronto, and Oakville have recently voted to link their ravines and river valleys all the way from The Greenbelt to the Lake Ontario waterfront. This is a tremendously positive step toward their permanent protection.
Now we need to ensure all of the urban ravines and river valleys that flow from Ontario's Greenbelt be included in it.
