Support a Fur-Free West Hollywood

In 1989, the city of West Hollywood was declared a "cruelty free zone for animals" when bans on cosmetic testing and steel leg-hold traps were put in place. Since then, many other progressive changes have taken place from banning puppy mills to becoming a guardian city.

Supported by the local group Fur-Free WeHo, West Hollywood now has the opportunity to become the first fur-free city in the nation. While the modified ordinance was initially approved on November 7, it will still be voted on again.

Please sign the petition asking the Mayor John Duran and City Council members to take this historic opportunity to demonstrate leadership and compassion by making West Hollywood the first city to ban the sale of fur.
I was both thrilled and grateful to hear about West Hollywood's move to ban the sale of fur products.

Your city has made many progressive moves to protect animals ranging from a ban on declawing cats and banning puppy mills to becoming a guardian city, among many other actions. I hope you will continue with your efforts by taking this historic opportunity to make more compassionate changes by finalizing the ban on fur sales.

The continuation of the brutality that the fur trade perpetuates and the suffering it causes animals in both life and death simply for human vanity and profit is abhorrent. There is nothing fashionable about fur.

Again, I hope you take this opportunity to become a leader in animal welfare by making West Hollywood the first fur-free city in the U.S.
