End Violence and Gender Inequality: Support Funding for Women's Rights Organisations

Did you know that 1 in 3 women will face violence in her lifetime? That women account for about two-thirds of the more than 1 billion people globally who live in extreme poverty? Sadly, these shocking statistics are no surprise.

We live in a world where women are routinely excluded from positions of power and gender inequality and denial of women's rights stubbornly remain significant global challenges.

This September, the United Nations agreed on the Sustainable Development Goals, a new universal set of goals that governments will be expected to implement. These goals could galvanise international action on gender equality and women's rights in the years to come. But while the goals are a step in the right direction they mean little without strong financial support for women's rights organisations.

Women's rights organisations, like Womankind Worldwide's partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America, are using their resources and expertise to stop violence against women, fight for gender equality, and support women to become decision makers in their communities. From providing safe houses for women survivors of violence in Ethiopia to supporting female political candidates in Afghanistan, these organisations are vital in realising women's rights.

We must all speak out to ensure our leaders pledge financial support for these organisations and realise the ground-breaking goals. Sign the petition and urge world leaders to pledge financial support for women's rights organisations.
