Push For A Free Internet In China

The Chinese government has created a centralized body to control information on the Internet. China has a history of censoring websites, but this new body takes it a step further. The State Internet Information Office will have more power to restrict access to news and information in China than ever before.

In the wake of protests in the Middle East and North Africa, China has been executing the most intense crackdown on dissenters and activists in years. By restricting access to information, they are attempting to restrict political activity.

Access to information is a fundamental human right. Call on China to guarantee this right.
