Female Genital Cutting (FGC) is an invasive cultural practice that removes part or all of the external female genitalia. This act is dangerous, yet it is very common in Africa and parts of Asia and the Middle East.
Up to 140 million girls and women worldwide are currently living with the consequences of FGC. There are an estimated 3 million girls in Africa at risk of undergoing female genital cutting every year; this number soars when girls at risk all around the world are added into the figure.
FGC causes serious psychological and health complications. The practice is often done under unsanitary conditions, and without anesthesia. The average age of girls forced to undergo FGC is between 4 and 12. There are no health benefits of FGC.
Help stop the practice of Female Genital Cutting. Tell President Obama to fight for human rights, and stop FGC.

FGC affects women for the rest of their lives; there is no cure or fix and no known way to undo the damage FGC causes. Often times it is mothers and other older women pushing for the procedure to be carried out on their daughters, because they want to make them marriageable and provide them with a brighter future, not because they want to control them or damage them. Please, devote some of your time in office to the education of women so that they know the medical and psychological consequences of FGC and that mothers will not unwittingly condemn their daughters to a life of pain and medical problems.

Female circumcision is not practiced in the US but it through out the world. In the US there is a safer "painless" procedures that if it was practiced here. Where it practiced there is no safe procedures for them.

I realized that this practice went on, but today, I saw a video of it on "Inside the Quran" on the National Geographic channel. I felt physically ill and I have been crying and praying about this all day long. I have not been able to stop crying. The young girl screamed, "Please don't tie me!", so her mother and grandmother held her down while she screamed, "She's cutting me again! Please don't pull it! She's pulling out my bits!" when it was over the girl was sitting in a chair crying. One of the peoplw who participated in this ATROCITY told her she was a liar and it wasn't that painful - then she slapped her legs to chastise her for crying after they had just cut off her genitals. She looked to be between 8 and 12. HORRIBLE! This made me so sick I actually prayed for Christ's soon return so that this doesn't happen anymore. PLEASE help!
